Zimbabwe’s ICT sector has witnessed a significant surge in investment, growing over 1% in the past year, as the government prepares to launch the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. The launch event, presided over by President Emmerson Mnanganwa, is expected to be a game-changer for the country’s tech scene.

Addressing stakeholders at the Ministry’s recent Stakeholders engagement meeting in Harare, ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetara attributed the sector’s growth to partnerships with various stakeholders. “Through collaborations, we’ve achieved remarkable progress,” Mavetara said, highlighting the ministry’s focus on innovation and digital transformation.

The National AI Strategy is expected to drive economic growth, improve service delivery, and position Zimbabwe as a leader in tech innovation. With AI transforming industries worldwide, Zimbabwe aims to leverage this technology to address pressing challenges.

Mavetara emphasized the importance of developing local talent and creating a regulatory framework that supports AI growth. “We are committed to creating an ecosystem that nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship,” she added.
