The event will be in two parts focusing on code and tech talks with industry experts.

“We will host a two track focused event, one on code labs and the other on technical talks along with having industry professionals gracing the event,” said Sithole last month.

The full day hackathon looks at trends such as VR, Machine Learning and other topics.

“GDG Devfest Southern Africa aims to be a full day tech festival focused on talks with hands on learning of the latest technologies in Android, VR, Web, Machine Learning, tech entrepreneurship and the future of technology in Africa,” he added.

The DevFest will bring aspiring and experienced Android developers from Southern Africa under one roof.

“It aims to bring together a diverse mix of developers, designers, entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts from around Southern Africa to share and learn the knowledge they have acquired with the rest of the community,” said Sithole.
