Highlighting its advanced enabling technology and innovation in 5G vertical applications, Huawei’s 5G Core Solution SOC (service-oriented core) received the “Best Vertical Application” award at SDN/NFV World Congress 2017. The “Best Vertical Application” is a Network Transformation Award from Layer123 and is the only award in the 5G applications sector.
SOC is a 5G core network solution that enables all access and services. It helps carriers expand the vertical industry market while protecting their existing investments.
Huawei has continuously invested in the construction and development of 5G core network standards, technologies, and practices since 2009, speeding up the implementation of 5G.
Huawei pioneered the concept of “Cloud Native” in the field of telecommunications, a concept that has been widely recognized and adopted throughout the industry.
Huawei has also actively promoted the maturity of 5G core network standards. It has proposed and taken the lead in constructing standards for multiple 5G core network techniques, including network slicing, service-based architecture (SBA), and CUPS-based MEC.
This service-based architecture has been formally incorporated into 3GPP standards as the unified 5G core network architecture.
Huawei has collaborated with numerous leading global carriers such as Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, China Mobile, and China Telecom, and has hosted cutting-edge demonstrations of multiple 5G technologies, such as 5G end-to-end network slicing for xMBB/GLA/FMC, 5G network slicing for smart grid, 5G low-latency IoV applications, and SBA prototype. In addition, Huawei has helped carriers build several commercial network projects, such as CUPS-based MEC smart factory and smart stadium.
Huawei’s SOC solution has made many positive contributions to the industry, including innovative technologies, standardized patents, and advanced practices. In the future, Huawei will continue to promote the industry’s development chain and spare no effort in building a better-connected world.
