Gumbo Appointed Zimpost’s Board Chair

Government has appointed Onias Gumbo as Zimbabwe Posts’ (Zimpost) substantive chairperson, a position he held as an interim.

In a statement, Zimpost said his appointment is with effect from September 4, 2017.

“The Minister of information Communication Technology Postal and Courier Services, Honourable Supa Mandiwanzira appointed Mr Onias Gumbo as the substantive Board of Directors Chairman of Zimbabwe Posts (Pvt) Ltd (Zimpost) with effect from September 4, 2017,” said the company.

The company noted that the incumbent board chair was Zimpost’s acgting chair since last year in October.

“Mr Gumbo had been the Zimpost acting Board Chairman since Octo-ber 18, 2016. Mr Gumbo brings to Zimpost a wealth of experience from his stint as a broad-caster and a banker. He is also a property developer and businessman of note.

Prior to his appointment as Zimpost Board Chairman, Mr. Gumbo has held other influential positions such as the Acting Director General of Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). While working for ZBC, he became Chairman of the SADC Broadcasters, Chairman of ARDMA — MaSS Media Advertisers, Vice President of the Common-wealth Broadcasters and Managing Director of the Central Filming Laboratory.

He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Zimbabwe and the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (CIS).  Gumbo is a financial and investment advisor who is also the Managing Direc-tor of Assetfin (Pvt) Ltd a financial institution dealing with property development, Shopex (Pvt) Ltd dealing with trade and stockbroking and Zimbos (Pvt) Ltd dealing with beef supply in partner-ship with the Cold Storage Commission.

He also worked with ztsco Steel to establish Ramutsa Iron and Steel Company in Botswana.
