A total of 40 telemedicine sights have so far been launched around the country In an iniative driven by The First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa’s partnership with NetOne Pvt Ltd, ZimStart Villages and other innovators, revolutising the health care sector.
“The telemedicine virtual hospital initiative is a bold, people-centered vision that embodies the convergence of compassion, technology, and national purpose,” said Dr. Amai Mnangagwa, Patron of SHE Tech.

The initiative has been hailed as a game-changer in the healthcare sector, providing virtual consultations, timely medical guidance, and critical services to communities that need it most. NetOne’s robust network ensures seamless connectivity, removing distance as a barrier to care.
The initiative has also invested in community health promoters, known as Vadhumeni veUtano, who serve as frontline champions of wellness. They identify risks early, foster awareness, and nurture a culture of proactive health.

The telemedicine initiative is part of Zimbabwe’s broader efforts to transform its healthcare sector. The government is committed to ensuring that quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege, for all Zimbabweans.
The initiative has also integrated mobile financial services, empowering communities economically. “Health, technology, and economic inclusion converge in a holistic vision that is uniquely aligned with the ambitions of the Second Republic and the transformative agenda of Vision 2030,” said Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera commenting on the First Lady’s undertaking.
The telemedicine initiative is a reflection of leadership that listens, acts, and inspires. It is a model that is inclusive, sustainable, and deeply rooted in local communities.
The initiative has been praised by stakeholders, including Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Barbara Rwodzi, who said it is a defining national moment, symbolizing unity, shared purpose, and an unwavering commitment to transforming lives.
