Chiredzi Town Council (CTC) has launched an online billing system, allowing ratepayers to access their bills and statements from anywhere with an internet connection. This initiative aims to decongest revenue halls and make it easier for residents to do business with the council.
The system was designed by CTC’s new Systems Administrator, Michael Makuchu, “This portal is accessed on (link unavailable) and for one to log in they should know their nine digit account number. The portal also enables one to access their statements which will then help one to know their bills so that they can pay either through the bank or EcoCash if they do not want to visit the council rates halls.”
CTC Chairperson, Jameson Charumbira, encouraged residents to take advantage of this initiative, saying “The system was designed by our new Systems Administrator, Michael Makuchu. Residents should take advantage of this initiative.”
Finance Committee Chairperson, Vimbai Ushe, noted that the new system will help residents access their bills in a timely manner, stating “This new system will help you access your bills in time and you will be getting all the information you want unlike the old method where you were only receiving messages on your phone which were summarised without the whole statement.”
The introduction of this online billing system is part of CTC’s efforts to improve its services and make it easier for residents to interact with the council. By embracing digital technologies, CTC is following in the footsteps of other local authorities, which have also introduced online bill enquiry and payment systems.
