Liquid Intelligent Technologies continues to dominate Zimbabwe’s Internet Access Provider (IAP) landscape, leading the country’s broadband infrastructure, international bandwidth capacity, and enterprise data delivery according to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) First Quarter 2026 Sector Performance Report.

As the market leader, Liquid commands over 32% of the national terrestrial fibre backbone and the largest share of equipped international internet bandwidth capacity in Zimbabwe.

Liquid’s position stems from its extensive fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) rollout, corporate cloud integration, and role as the primary wholesale gateway for downstream internet resellers across Southern Africa.

TelOne holds the second spot in the IAP market. The state-owned operator leverages its legacy copper footprint alongside expanding FTTH infrastructure, maintaining a stronghold over government communications, residential fixed broadband, and public sector network solutions.

Powertel Communications, a subsidiary of power utility ZESA Holdings, occupies the third major position. Powertel utilizes fibre optic infrastructure laid along national power lines, delivering reliable backhaul and data services primarily to industrial enterprises, utility grids, and corporate clients.

In the mid-tier segment, commercial operators such as Dandemutande (Utande), Africom, and Telecontract (Telco) maintain specialized market shares by providing fixed-wireless LTE, corporate leased lines, and integrated ICT services.

Meanwhile, low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite operator Starlink has disrupted the lower-tier market ranking, driving satellite broadband expansion and establishing itself as a primary access provider for off-grid, rural, and remote enterprise locations.

As overall fixed internet traffic surged by 29.39% during the quarter to reach 479.94 petabytes, Liquid and secondary IAPs are accelerating infrastructure investments to support Zimbabwe’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
