Zimbabwe has certified 215 Data Protection Officers, demonstrating its commitment to data protection and cybersecurity. This move is expected to promote trust in digital services and support the country’s digital economy.
The certification is a recognition of Zimbabwe’s efforts in promoting data protection.
“We are proud to announce that Zimbabwe has certified 215 Data Protection Officers, a significant milestone in our data protection journey,” said Hon. Tatenda Mavetera, Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services.
The certified Data Protection Officers are expected to play a key role in promoting data protection best practices. “Data protection is a shared responsibility, and we must work together to promote it,” Mavetera said.
The minister emphasized the importance of data protection in ensuring trustworthy AI systems. “Data protection is a critical component of AI development, and we must prioritize it,” Mavetera said.
The certified Data Protection Officers have undergone training and assessment to ensure they meet international standards. “We are committed to promoting data protection best practices and ensuring a trusted digital economy,” Mavetera said.
The event featured presentations from local and international experts on data protection issues. “Data protection is a shared responsibility, and we must work together to promote it,” said a local data protection expert.
The minister noted that data protection is essential for promoting trust in digital services. “We must prioritize data protection in our operations,” Mavetera advised.
