Edward Nyamuda, a luminary in the ICT industry, recently marked a milestone in both his personal and professional journey, celebrating his 70th birthday while being honored for his remarkable contributions to the sector. With over 45 years of experience, Nyamuda has become a cornerstone of innovation and mentorship, leaving an indelible mark on the technological landscape.
Nyamuda’s journey began with a solid foundation in academia, earning a master’s degree in electrical sciences from the University of Cambridge and the University of Manchester. Further enhancing his expertise, he completed the IBM IMTP project management program, laying the groundwork for a distinguished career.
In 1991, alongside his wife Eunice, Nyamuda founded CompuLink, a company that would go on to redefine the convergence of data and telecommunications systems. Under his leadership, CompuLink collaborated with globally renowned brands such as Novell, IBM, Cisco, HP, VMWare, Smart, and Transcision Networks, solidifying its reputation as a trailblazer in the ICT domain.
Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, Nyamuda co-founded the Evolve Africa ICT Summit, an influential platform aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration within the ICT community. Throughout his career, he has been a mentor and leader, inspiring a new generation of technology professionals.
In his acceptance remarks, Nyamuda reflected on his journey with humility and grace,
“It has come as a surprise for me, but an appreciation. Unlike the previous speaker, I’m 70 years old today. And I’ve had the privilege of handing over the baton to the next generation. I’ve watched, after handing over the baton, the organization rising to great heights that I would not have been able to take it up to. And I think maybe the greatest thing was to be able to just come to a place where you say, this institution I have started will probably blossom under new leadership and under someone else’s hands. So with that, I want to thank you very much for recognizing me at this point in my life.”
