Itai Ndoro, a US based Zimbabwean software engineer in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) says Zimbabwe can harness from Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Virtual Reality simply entails presenting our senses with a computer generated virtual environment that we can explore in the same fashion while Augmented Reality is now the integration of such an environment with that of a user, all done in real time. The software engineer speaking to TechnoMag said that there are many opportunities that can be derived from the creation and use of VR and AR especially to developing nations like that of Zimbabwe.

“There are many applications for VR and AR in this world. It has a lot of potential and can be used in gaming so that people can be immersed in the game, in healthcare, military training, real estate and even an artist can use Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality to help in their work,” he said.

virtual reality.

Now he intends to start a Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality company in Southern Africa that will help in the creation and advancement of VR and AR opportunities to the people of Southern Africa and the many opportunities offered by these two.

In addition, I will also teach them to code in various programming languages so that they can build Virtual realities and Augmented Realities experiences and align them to the industry,” said Ndoro.

There are many benefits of using VR and AR and once Zimbabweans get to know more about VR and AR, they will be better able to create VR and AR experiences that have more meaning to the African context than what someone from outside Africa can create for Africa.

Everything that people know about reality comes from their senses, and there is a lot that people don’t know.  VR and AR offers an opportunity to tap into a different kind of reality and expand its horizon.

In  underdeveloped countries like Zimbabwe, this give the opportunity to bridge the development gap that has left the developing nations lagging far behind first world countries.

Given all this, the opportunities are limitless. What Zimbabweans will do with these opportunities is completely up to them.
