NetOne has taken its Mega National Clean-Up Campaign to 7 cities — Harare, Chitungwiza, Masvingo, Bindura, Bulawayo, Nyanga and Zvishavane — framing environmental care as part of its core tech mandate.
The telco says connectivity creates waste streams that operators must own. Spokesperson and PR Manager Ernest Magadzire tied the campaign directly to product lifecycle.
“As Zimbabwe’s network of choice, our responsibility extends beyond providing reliable connectivity. Every NetOne recharge voucher, SIM card packaging and promotional material that is carelessly discarded has the potential to pollute the very communities we serve.”

NetOne partnered with City Councils and schools like Quinton Junior School in Chitungwiza and Herentials College in Bindura to embed responsible disposal habits in the next generation of digital users.
In Nyanga, the clean-up targeted litter that impacts tourism assets — a reminder that digital tourism marketing relies on clean physical destinations.
“Protecting destinations such as Nyanga is particularly important because our environment is one of our greatest national assets. Clean communities promote tourism, improve public health, strengthen local economies and create a better Zimbabwe for generations to come,” Magadzire added.
NetOne says national development is not just digital transformation, but also environmental safeguarding. The company is positioning community clean-ups as part of its network infrastructure of trust.
