Zimbabwe took part in the 10th annual Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) it hosted virtually due to Covid 19, represented by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ).
Befittingly at the virtual event, POTRAZ Director General, Dr Gift Machengete was named the incoming chairperson for Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA).
Dr Machengete replaces Eng. Patrick Mutimushi from the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA).
According to the Constitution of CRASA, the Chairperson shall be responsible for overseeing the execution of the decisions of the Annual General Meetings and the conduct of the affairs of CRASA.
This includes chairing meetings of the Executive Committee, taking decisions and overseeing the operations of the Secretariat.
CRASA is SADC’s body responsible for the harmonisation of ICT and postal policies, standards and procedures for the region and is also responsible for steering ICT and postal sector development in the region, through research and policy interventions.
