DHL Zimbabwe recently increased its cargo carrying capacity from 4, 5 tonnes to 6 tonnes for the Harare-Johannesburg route using its new acquisition.
Speaking to TechnoMag, DHL Zimbabwe managing director Jeff Phiri said they now have an ATR 72 aircraft which they got in August this year.
“DHL is always forward looking. We have exciting products that we are launching. Recently we upgraded our aircraft.
“We have a dedicated DHL owned aircraft an ATR 72 that flies within Johannesburg and Harare Mondays to Fridays.
The courier company boasts of a wide agents base in the country of over 130.
“We know as a country this turbulence wont last forever but we have a long term view that’s why we are doing a lot of investments. We have invested in spreading the footprint.
“We have agencies across the country. We are above 130. Im not giving you the exact number obviusously for commercial reasons but we are above 130.
“Our mandate is to provde DHL services to everyone in Dotito, Chirumhanzu, Lupane, Gwanda, we should be able to provide those services. So that’s why we are spreading our footprint,” said Phiri.
Phiri also hinted that they signed new agreements but could not reveal the names of other signatories.
“We have signed new agreements with various partners and you will be seeing them in the coming weeks and we will bring convenience.
“I cant give you names now but we just signed. There are diligence processes and we are also in a closed period as DHL globally,” he added.
Commenting on his new role as the Contact Centre Association of Zimbabwe chair, Phiri said they aim to make the organisation a force to reckon with globally.
“My board, young dynamic will shake corridors. We are looking at the national interest, the vision, we want to be the contact centre of the world we have everything. We have educated people, lovely climate, we have infratracture we have internet. There is nothing that stops us so we want to take everything,” he said.
