NetOne Cellular has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability through the successful rollout of its monthly One Mega Clean-Up Campaign conducted simultaneously across Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Masvingo, Midlands, Bindura and Chitungwiza.
The nationwide initiative is part of the company’s Corporate Social Investment agenda and directly supports the National Clean-Up Programme proclaimed by His Excellency, President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, who declared the first Friday of every month as National Clean-Up Day.
In a Whole-Of-Government And Community Approach, in Harare, NetOne joined its parent Ministry, the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, together with POTRAZ, TelOne, Zimpost and ZARNET.
The joint exercise brought together leadership and staff from across the ICT and postal sector to improve cleanliness while strengthening inter-agency collaboration.
In Bulawayo, Mutare, Masvingo, Midlands, Bindura and Chitungwiza, NetOne regional teams partnered with local authorities, EMA, residents’ associations, and community-based organisations to collect waste and raise awareness on proper waste management and environmental conservation.
Aligning With National Development,
NetOne said the campaign advances the Devolution and Decentralisation Programme by empowering regional teams to address environmental challenges unique to their communities.
Speaking on the initiative, NetOne Public Relations Manager Ernest Magadzire
said:
“At NetOne, we believe that building a digitally connected Zimbabwe goes hand in hand with building clean, healthy and sustainable communities. Our One Mega Clean-Up Campaign reflects our unwavering commitment to complementing Government’s environmental agenda while strengthening partnerships with local authorities, communities and key stakeholders across the country. Together, we are creating environments that support economic growth, public health and the realisation of Vision 2030.”
Sustainability is Beyond Connectivity as Zimbabwe’s pioneering mobile operator, NetOne said sustainable environmental management underpins economic productivity, public health and resilient infrastructure.
The campaign also supports National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), which identifies environmental protection
, climate resilience and sustainable waste management as key enablers of socio-economic transformation.
With Zimbabwe set to commemorate Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day, NetOne said it remains guided by the legacy of sacrifice and patriotism to complement government through initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, digital inclusion and community empowerment.
