The ZESA National Training Centre (NTC) has broadened its training programmes to include technical, non-technical, and certificate courses, as well as drone technology training be, in a move aimed at equipping Zimbabwe’s workforce with skills relevant to today’s industrial and energy demands.

The courses cover a wide scope, from soft skills in leadership and management to highly specialized training in power systems, welding, hydraulics, renewable energy, and drone-assisted infrastructure management. The initiative is designed to strengthen technical expertise, enhance organizational efficiency, and ensure workplace safety in the energy sector and beyond.

Among the non-technical courses, participants can enroll in project management, contract management, gender mainstreaming, human resources management, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) training. These programmes focus on building leadership capacity, fostering compliance, and improving time management and workplace safety.

On the technical side, the centre is offering hands-on training in welding techniques, rigging and lifting, applied hydraulics, pump technology, solar PV systems design and installation, substation and transformer maintenance, and power systems protection. Participants will also be trained on cable jointing, valve technology, machinery alignment, rolling bearings, and the use of advanced tools such as laser shaft alignment.

In a notable addition, the centre has introduced a Drone Training Program. The course equips participants with specialized skills to use drones for inspections, maintenance, and data collection in power system management. This innovation aims to improve efficiency, reduce risks, and enhance safety in infrastructure monitoring.

The NTC is also running certificate courses for individuals seeking to upgrade their qualifications in electrical engineering and power plant operations. These include HEXCO-accredited programs in electrical power engineering, power plant operations, and machine shop engineering, as well as practical and theoretical skills upgrades for electrical classes 1 to 4.

By expanding its curriculum, the ZESA National Training Centre is positioning itself as a key driver of skills development in Zimbabwe’s energy and industrial sectors, helping professionals keep pace with technological changes while boosting the country’s human capital base.
