The three mobile operators in the country generated a total of ZWL$26 Billion in the last quarter of 2021, according to the Potraz 4th quarter sector report.
Revenue grew by ZWL$6.5 Billion from the ZWL$19.5 Billion generated during the third quarter of 2021.
The revenue contribution of voice service however, declined whereas the revenue contribution of internet and data was on the upside.
The mobile data and internet services revenue narrowly increased by 0.2% to 42.2% up from the 42% recorded in the third quarter
However the operating costs grew by 10.9% in the fourth quarter of 2021 with ZWL$1.4 Billion to record ZWL$13.9 Billion from ZWL$12.5 recorded in the third quarter of the period under review.
Potraz attributed the increase in operating costs to inflationary pressures in the economy.
Capital expenditure by mobile operators declined by 23.9% in the fourth quarter with a total of ZWL$1.2 Billion being invested,representing a sharp decline of ZWL$400 million down from the ZWL$1.6 Billion invested in the third quarter of 2021.
