Dr. Eng. Martin Muduva has been honoured with a Global Business Achievers Network (GBAN) Platinum Award for Visionary Leadership and Sustainability Excellence, recognizing his contribution to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital governance, and technology-driven national development.
The honour was presented at a high-profile ceremony held at Hyatt Regency in Harare and presided over by Vice President Kembo Mohadi.
The Platinum Award, one of GBAN’s highest accolades, recognizes leaders whose work demonstrates innovation, sustainability, and transformative impact.
Muduva was part of the core drafting team behind the National AI Strategy, alongside other national experts. The strategy, launched in March 2026, sets out Zimbabwe’s framework for developing and governing AI, with priorities spanning innovation, research, infrastructure, skills, adoption, and responsible AI governance.
Speaking to TechnoMag after receiving the award, Muduva said the recognition should be viewed as a reflection of a wider national effort rather than an individual achievement.
“This award is not only a personal milestone but also a recognition of Zimbabwe’s growing commitment to innovation and emerging technologies.”
He said the recognition reinforced the need for Zimbabwe to approach artificial intelligence strategically and ethically as the technology increasingly influences economies and public institutions.
“It reinforces our shared responsibility to harness artificial intelligence ethically and strategically to accelerate sustainable national development, strengthen institutions and improve our lives as well as position our nation competitively on a brick by brick basis.”
Muduva’s recognition comes against a backdrop of growing efforts to translate Zimbabwe’s AI strategy into practical programmes.
In June, he described the AI Grand Challenge as a shift towards developing AI solutions that address real-world problems rather than simply producing research outputs or prototypes.
