In a move that is testament to Zimpost’s commitment to nurturing national talent, Zimpost has announced its sponsorship of two exceptional Zimbabwean athletes, Fortunate Chidzivo and Wayne Kabondo.
Zimpost celebrated this initiative with a special send-off ceremony, attended by the athletes, Zimpost executives, and key partners from NICOZDIAMOND and GRUMA.
Speaking during the special send-off ceremony, Zimpost Post Master General Mr. M. Chitendeni said Zimpost takes pride in Wayne and Fortunate’s resilience.
“It is with great pride that we stand behind these two incredible athletes,” said Zimpost Postmaster General, Mr. M. Chitendeni, during his remarks at the ceremony. “Fortunate and Wayne are not only champions on the track, but also shining ambassadors of the resilience, dedication, and excellence that we value deeply at Zimpost.”
This support follows the athletes’ recent successes at the Post Insurance Mr. Pace Half Marathon. Chidzivo recently won the women’s marathon at the fourth edition, while Kabondo took first place in the third edition.
The sponsorship is a collaborative effort, with Post Insurance underwritten by NICOZDiamond and managed by Global Risk Underwriters. This partnership highlights Zimpost’s broader strategy to not only provide essential postal and financial services but also to invest in the community and elevate Zimbabwe’s presence on the global stage.
Our commitment to sports is about more than just sponsorship; it’s about nurturing talent, promoting wellness, and showcasing the greatness of Zimbabwe,” Mr. Chitendeni added. “We are confident that their performances will inspire many more to pursue their dreams.
The sponsorship, facilitated through Zimpost’s brand Post Insurance, supports Chidzivo and Kabondo as they represent Zimbabwe in major competitions abroad. Fortunate Chidzivo, a seasoned marathon runner, is set to compete in the World Championships in Japan. Wayne Kabondo, a rising star in the running world, will carry the Zimbabwean flag in Lusaka, Zambia.
