Zimbabwe’s Mobile Internet Traffic Surges By 17.31% in Q1 2025

Mobile internet/data traffic in the country has increased significantly by 17.31% in the first quarter of 2025, it rose from 97.19 Petabytes (PB) in Q4 2024 to 114.02 PB this is according to the latest report from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ),

Econet led the pack with a 20.68% increase in internet/data traffic, from 76.43 PB to 92.23 PB while NetOne recorded a 5.23% growth in internet/data traffic, from 20.49 PB to 21.56 PB and Telecel experienced a decline of 18.26% in internet/data traffic, from 276.85 TB to 226.30 TB.

The proliferation of smartphones and the popularity of social media platforms have been driving internet/data traffic growth in the country. However, roaming data traffic declined significantly, with inbound roaming traffic decreasing by 24.65% and outbound roaming traffic plummeting by 45.47%.

The surge in mobile internet traffic highlights the growing demand for data services in Zimbabwe. As the country’s telecom sector continues to evolve, operators will need to adapt to changing consumer behavior and technological advancements to remain competitive.
