The Connect a Greenhouse initiative leverages modern technologies to empower greenhouse farmers to produce healthy crops remotely. Equipped with cameras, soil sensors, and temperature control systems, these smart greenhouses enable farmers to monitor and manage their environments with ease.
Easyway Samusodza , Product Manager at NetOne, explained the benefits of this innovation: “We are now working with farmers to enable remote management and control of their greenhouses at the click of a button through our Connect a Greenhouse innovation.”
He elaborated on the features of the smart greenhouses, highlighting the role of cameras in capturing real-time visuals and monitoring temperature fluctuations. Soil sensors, he added, track soil moisture levels, allowing farmers to trigger irrigation systems remotely when necessary.
This initiative aligns with Zimbabwe’s national vision of achieving a middle-class economy by 2030. By harnessing technology, farmers can now optimize crop requirements with precision, boosting productivity and efficiency.
During her visit to the NetOne stand, Honorable Minister of ICT, Postal and Communication, Hon. Tatenda Mavetera, commended the company’s efforts to promote a digital economy in Zimbabwe through such initiatives.
