Zimbabwe’s internet market crossed a new milestone in Q1 2026, with 13,915,839 active subscriptions, up 5.0% from 13,252,877 in Q4 2025, according to the POTRAZ Abridged Sector Performance Report.

Internet penetration rose to 87.39%, while broadband penetration hit 85.83%.

Mobile internet remains dominant with 13,497,947 users, up 4.93%.
But other segments also grew:
– Fixed LTEgrew 9.31% to 156,667 subscriptions
– VSAT grew 28.98%
– Active Fibre grew 0.32% to 86,505

DSL and WiMAX continued to decline.

On the fixed side, total internet traffic exploded 29.39% to 621 Petabytes. Liquid Intelligent Technologies led with 47.58% growth and now controls 55.21% of the fixed data market.

POTRAZ says this shows demand for reliable, high-speed internet outside traditional mobile networks is booming, especially in urban and peri-urban areas.

The report also noted that TelOne remains the largest employer among Internet Access Providers with 1,506 staff, out of 2,346 total IAP employees.
