When you think NetOne, you think data, voice, and mobile money. But on the first Friday of every month, you’ll also find NetOne with a broom.

On 4 September 2026, the country’s pioneering mobile network operator extended its clean-up campaign to four cities — Harare, Masvingo, Mutare, and Chitungwiza — joining the ICT sector at the main event in Harare hosted by TelOne.

It’s part of a bigger play. Since 2021, NetOne has marked National Clean-Up Day monthly. The goal: build a culture of environmental stewardship that lasts to 2030.

WHY IT MATTERS
According to Acting PR Manager Thamsanqa Luphahla speakingon behalf of Ernest Magadzire, sustainability is not a project for NetOne. It’s a mindset.

“We are not merely participants; we are champions of this cause,” Luphahla said. “Even when we look ahead to 2030, you will find NetOne still doing this.”

The September exercise focused on the 3Rs: Reduce, Re-use, Recycle. Working with EMA, city councils, and resident associations, NetOne teams targeted CBDs and high-density areas.

But the telco says its impact goes deeper. By linking clean-ups to education and community upliftment programmes, NetOne is aligning its Corporate Social Investment with Vision 2030 and NDS2 priorities.

“Giving back to the communities that host us is embedded in our DNA,” Luphahla noted. “We are doubling down on programmes that protect our surroundings while uplifting our people.”

For NetOne, a digitally connected Zimbabwe must stand on green, healthy communities. That’s the net they’re spreading — one city, one Friday at a time.
