The Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Hon. Tatenenda Anastacia Mavetera, has revealed Zimbabwe’s mobile penetration at 90% while internet penetration is at 60%.
Zimbabwe’s Apex ICT and Courier Services boss revealed this at yesterday’s Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe’s (Potraz’s) stakeholders meeting held in the capital.
Minister Mavetera emphasized the significance of Zimbabwe’s digital future at the 2026 Postal and Telecommunications Stakeholders’ Engagement Meeting. Speaking at the POTRAZ Auditorium in Harare, stressing that the country’s “digital transformation is a collective responsibility, requiring the active participation of all stakeholders.”
Mavetera highlighted the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for the ICT sector to thrive, citing efforts to improve the regulatory framework and invest in infrastructure development. She noted that the sector has seen significant growth, with “mobile penetration reaching 90% and internet penetration standing at 60% as of December 2025.”
The Minister also acknowledged the challenges facing the sector, including the need for “improved cybersecurity measures and increased access to affordable devices.”She called on stakeholders to work together to address these challenges and unlock the full potential of the ICT sector.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, industry players, and civil society organizations, to discuss policy issues and strategies for advancing Zimbabwe’s digital agenda.
