President Robert Mugabe over the weekend commissioned the 86th Community Information Centre (CIC), in Chinhoyi as the government continues to establish communication centres around the nation.
Addressing delegates in Chinhoyi, The president said that it is important for the locals and responsible authorities to protect and safeguard the Community Information Centres (CIC) as these are their own sites for connectivity.
Now that we have done our part as government to avail this communication information centre, let us be responsible people to protect and safeguard our own property so that its not destroyed but kept in good use.
The president also castigated the internet and social media abuse and encouraged Zimbabweans to use this tool towards the advancement of daily lives instead of a weapon to fight one another.
He, however, noted the lack of electricity supply in some rural areas as a major inhabitance towards the launching of many CICs in rural and establishment of computer labs to the less privileged societies.
The President also handed over some laptops to local Mashonaland West schools for their own IT labs and academic enhancement
