Kombi Operators Have 90 Days: What SI 118 of 2023 Means For Your Fleet

If you operate a commuter omnibus, bus, or any public service vehicle, you have 90 days to comply.

1. Fit a speed limiter: Capped at 100km/h as per 2023 directive.
2. Fit a speed monitoring device: Must log and store speed data for 6+ months for inspection by VID/ZRP.
3. Connect to NSMS: Your vehicle movement will be visible to regulators for oversight and planning.

Minister Mhona stressed it’s a partnership: “For transport operators, the system presents an opportunity to strengthen operational discipline and demonstrate compliance with the law”.
