CBZ Bank has been awarded Sustainability Certification, marking another milestone in the financial institution’s efforts to integrate sustainability into its operations and approach to value creation.

The certification was awarded by the International Council of Sustainability Standards for Value-Driven Financial Institutions and the European Organisation for Sustainable Development (EOSD).

The certification recognises the bank’s work to embed sustainability across the institution rather than treating it as a standalone corporate initiative.

In a statement the Bank said it has undertaken work to embed sustainability across the organisation, creating a foundation through which its financial capacity, market position and institutional capabilities can contribute to enterprise development, investment and Zimbabwe’s long-term economic competitiveness.

CBZ also  said the certification should not be viewed as the conclusion of that process.

“The true measure of this achievement will be seen in the businesses that grow stronger, the investments that become possible, the opportunities created, and the lasting value generated for our customers, communities, and the nation at large.”

The development is particularly relevant as businesses and financial institutions face increasing pressure to consider the longer-term economic, social and environmental implications of how capital is deployed.
