Active fibre subscriptions climbed 7.42% to 86,225 in Q4 2025, POTRAZ reported.
The growth contributed to the 8.25% rise in total fixed internet/data subscriptions to 389,146.
Fibre now accounts for 22.2% of fixed subscriptions, trailing Fixed LTE at 36.8% but ahead of DSL at 22.5%.
Fixed internet/data traffic increased 8.86% to 479.94 PB, with fibre networks carrying a significant share.
Liquid Intelligent Technologies, with 4,631.4 km of fibre, holds 32.3% of the national backbone.
TelOne operates 4,046 km of fibre, or 28.2%, and saw its fixed data traffic rise 35.01% to 45.39 PB.
Powertel’s 3,869 km, or 26.9% of backbone, also supports enterprise and ISP fibre services.
Used international incoming bandwidth grew 10.88% to 604,440 Mbps, requiring fibre backhaul.
IAP revenue reached ZWG 2.53 billion, with operating costs falling 7.06% to ZWG 1.78 billion.
Capex by IAPs was ZWG 217.48 million, up 0.74%, funding last-mile fibre.
Equipped international bandwidth reached 1,688,770 Mbps, with Liquid holding 68.10%.
The report noted fibre is “critical for 5G backhaul, data centres, and high-quality enterprise connectivity.”
DSL declined 1.73% to 87,713 as users migrated to fibre and Fixed LTE.
Fixed VoIP subscriptions rose 3.15% to 39,307, often delivered over fibre.
POTRAZ said fibre expansion aligns with the 2026 outlook for “data-centric ecosystem” growth.
