*Lion Spotted in Chegutu, ZimParks Responds*
A lion has been sighted in the Chegutu area, prompting swift action from the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks). Spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the presence of the big cat and urged residents to remain calm while authorities work to resolve the situation.
According to a notice issued by the Chegutu Municipality’s Business Development and Communications Desk on 27 June 2025, the lion was first spotted on 23 June near Chakari. The presence of the animal has been corroborated by fresh spoor and roaring sounds reported by local residents.
Farawo stated that a ZimParks reaction team has been deployed to the area to track and safely capture the animal. He assured the public that efforts are underway to ensure the safety of both the community and the lion.
Residents are advised to exercise caution, avoid walking alone in secluded areas, and report any further sightings to local authorities immediately.
