Honourable Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Service Dr Tatenda Mavetera has called for women participation to spear the achievement of digital skills to all by 2030 to break the gender barriers and promote diversity in the tech industry.
Hon Mavetera was addressing participants at the Women in ICT Conference 2024 held in Harare yesterday.
”We as a Ministry are reviewing our board appointment to ascertain that we get more women in ICT. We want the participation of women to get involved in the boss that was men,” said Mavetera.
She added, ”Among the main beneficiaries of this initiative are women and girls from across the country and as a ministry we have also done programmes where we have women in ICT, where we involve, the girls and see what they can be able to be to make sure that we catch them young and also have initiatives which will see women get much into ICT.”
The women in ICT, Zimbabwe have started giving support to women who are increasingly taking leadership roles and driving the developments and application of new technologies.
The Ministry continues to benefit from the participation of the Computer Society of Zimbabwe (CSZ) in the implementation of the triple ICT policy aiming to look at the measures they should put in place to include more women in ICT.
The CSZ has also participated in a lot of national committees where it was involved in NDS1 strategic reviews, the OPC which is also being sent to drive ICT initiatives.
