Azam TV has secured exclusive broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026, positioning itself as one of FIFA’s official partners for the biggest edition of the tournament ever staged across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
“We are delighted to secure the rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Rising stars, global icons, favourite teams, favourite players, every goal, every save — the stage is set for the ultimate battle for glory,” Azam TV CEO – Business Development and Technology Jacob Joseph said announcing the deal.
Joseph confirmed that Azam TV customers will watch all 104 matches LIVE, from kick-off on June 11 to the final on July 19, 2026. The expanded format featuring 48 national teams makes this the largest World Cup in history, and Azam TV said it is ready to deliver comprehensive coverage across East Africa.
Technical Services Manager Munyaradzi Kapfudza reinforced his CEO’s remarks, stressing that the technical team has been scaling infrastructure to handle the record 104-match schedule. “Securing World Cup rights means nothing without delivery. Our networks, playout systems and customer support are being optimised to ensure every match streams smoothly and reliably,” Kapfudza stated.
He explained that Azam TV is upgrading content delivery networks and redundancy systems to manage peak traffic during high-demand fixtures. The aim is zero buffering, minimal latency, and consistent quality whether viewers are on satellite, mobile data or fixed broadband.
Beyond live matches, Azam TV will roll out expert analysis, build-up programming and exclusive entertainment experiences before and during the tournament. Joseph said the strategy is to make Azam TV the home of football for the region, not just a broadcaster.
Kapfudza added that the engineering team is working closely with FIFA’s broadcast feeds to ensure signal integrity and compliance with international standards. “Our job is to translate premium rights into premium viewing experiences,” he noted.
The acquisition strengthens Azam TV’s sports portfolio, which already includes major football leagues, domestic competitions and international events. Industry analysts expect the 48-team format to drive record global audiences, creating new opportunities for subscriber growth and advertising.
Joseph said football remains a unifying force for communities. “Football brings communities together, and Azam TV is committed to connecting fans with every moment of the tournament,” he said, linking the broadcast to social impact as well as business.
For viewers, the message is simple: every match, every moment, live. Azam TV said it will combine live sports, premium entertainment and digital innovation to serve fans across East Africa throughout the 34-day tournament.
