Zambezi Boutique Fined For Defying Postal And Telecommunications Act

Victoria Falls based company Zambezi Boutique Private Limited was sentenced to a fine of USD$500for contravening the Postal and Telecommunications Act Chapter 12:05 which is “possession control operate a radio station without a radio station license”.

Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) received a tip off some time in September 2023 that the company was in possession of Starlink terminals, acting on the tip off a team from POTRAZ together with the police proceeded to the company premises where they were led to the company premises and the manager of the company failed to produce a license authorizing them to possess , control and operate the equipment.

Starlink is yet to be formally registered in Zimbabwe and POTRAZ had warned that individuals and businesses distributing and advertising equipment to access Starlink lnternet services may face arrest.
