I keep going back to that InnBucks DStv poster.

You know the one. No graphs. No big English about “financial inclusion.” Just a dad in a grey sweater, mom in pink stripes, kid in green stripes, all leaning over one bowl of popcorn. The TV is glowing blue. The lamp behind them is warm.

They are not selling fintech. They are selling what we actually buy DStv for.

In Zimbabwe, DStv is not a luxury. It is how the family survives load-shedding, a bad week, a boring Sunday. When ZESA cuts, when the US dollar is tight, when the Warriors break our hearts again — we still gather for Man U vs Arsenal. That is what MultiChoice forgot when they pushed Access to $16. They lost 41% of Zimbabwean subscribers in 2020. People just switched off.

Canal+ understood. Drop it to $9 for Starter, make sport $30, and we come back.

InnBucks understood something even bigger.

We don’t need another money app. We need ONE app that just works.

Remember how it started? You buy Chicken Inn, no change. They give you InnBucks. It was an irritation fix. Now it is 3 million people strong. It turned TM Pick n Pay tills into banks. It killed those paper credit notes. It killed those long POS queues. It gave us a tap card.

So why add DStv? Because that is the final room they hadn’t owned yet — the living room.

Think about it. POTRAZ says we are at 64.9% internet penetration, 15 million active lines. But most of us spend $1.80 to $5.20 a month on airtime and data. A $9 DStv Starter actually fits inside that pocket now. And you can pay it on _569# — not even a smartphone. Kambudzi. My grandmother in Gweru can pay it.

And did you see the small line at the bottom? “InnBucks is a product of InnBucks MicroBank Limited, a registered Deposit Taking Microfinance Bank and a member of the Deposit Protection Scheme.”

In Zimbabwe, where we lost money in 2008 and again in 2019, that one line is worth more than any billboard. That is not fine print. That is trust.

Then the how-to: Dial _569#, Google Play, App Store. No forms. No website to struggle with. They met us where we already are.

That little yellow scribble in the corner — “Get Inn” — it sounds like slang, but it is an instruction. Get in. Stay in.

They are not just making payments easier. They are changing the default place we go to sort our money. And tonight, that place is not a bank queue.

It is the couch. Popcorn. DStv on.

Paid with InnBucks.
