The event was a brainchild of AB Communications.

Speaking the event Honourable Mavetera challenges telecoms operators to improve the quality of their services to meet the expectations of the general citizens.
“The event, the first of its kind is running under the theme ‘Connecting the unconnected, bridging the digital divide’. It is up to all telecoms operators to make sure they improve their services to meet people’s expectations,” she said.
She added, “As citizens, we expect to have efficient, accessible and affordable access to connectivity. We are working hard to make sure no one and no place is left behind but I expect the country to have good connectivity in places like Harare and Bulawayo. So, all player in the sector must take this seriously, I don’t expect us to have unreliable connectivity there.”

Honourable Mavetera also spoke about the government working tirelessly to come up with people centred policies that are set to address a number of issues in the telecoms sector among them affordability.

“We have been busy drafting people centric policies that pit people first. His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched three policy documents in Somabhula last week but we are not stopping there. We want to make sure everyone is connected and no one and no place should be left behind,” she said.
