Telecommunications provider Econet Telecom Lesotho has earned major international recognition for its mobile network excellence after Ookla, the global leader behind Speedtest, named the operator as having the Fastest Mobile Network in Lesotho for the first half of 2026. Based on independently collected, real-world consumer performance data, the award highlights substantial improvements across key metrics that directly shape everyday customer experiences.
Confirming the accolade, Patrick Linder, VP of Telco Marketing Strategy and Design at Ookla, celebrated the achievement adding, “We are excited to announce that Econet has the Fastest Mobile Network in Lesotho, validated by Speedtest Verified.”
The top ranking stems from extensive infrastructure investments by Econet, featuring a steadily expanding active 5G footprint along with reinforced 4G coverage nationwide. These strategic network upgrades are designed to support faster web browsing, uninterrupted video streaming, low-latency mobile gaming, crystal-clear voice calls, and reliable connectivity for subscribers across the country.
Econet’s infrastructure growth coincides with Lesotho’s broader transition toward an integrated digital economy. As everyday life and commercial operations increasingly migrate online, high-speed mobile broadband is essential for powering digital financial services, remote education, local entrepreneurship, and digital entertainment.
