In today’s digital economy, cybersecurity is no longer just an IT concern. It is a business survival priority.
As Zimbabwean businesses accelerate digital transformation, their exposure to cyber threats continues to grow. And this Cybersecurity Month, Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zimbabwe is making that survival priority affordable — “Get 10% Off on Sophos Solutions Suite”.
Liquid has released a picture that says it all: a young professional woman smiling at her workstation, protected by a digital shield showing Data, Cloud, Security, Protect. Below her: five pillars that every board should be discussing — Threat Protection, Secure Your People, Data Security, Cloud Security, Business Continuity.
Liquid’s message is blunt: The question is no longer whether your business needs cybersecurity, but how prepared your business is when threats emerge.
A COUNTRY UNDER ATTACK
The numbers are sobering. Zimbabwe is increasingly becoming a hotspot for cyberattacks. In February 2024, Zimbabwe ranked among the top three most attacked nations globally, and among the most targeted in Africa according to CheckPoint. More than 31,000 criminal incidents were recorded in one month.
In 2026 alone, Zimbabwe has seen 450 reported ransomware incidents, with 35% of businesses affected and an average ransom of US$25,000 per incident.
Government estimates mobile money fraud alone costs more than US$30 million annually, while phishing and social engineering attacks have risen by over 40%.
At the Cyber Fraud and AI Summit 2026 in Nyanga, ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera warned: “The enemy now has artificial intelligence. You cannot fight an intelligent machine with a manual rulebook.” Criminals are now deploying deepfake voice cloning, automated phishing, and adaptive malware.
POTRAZ has reported over 60 data breaches, with the financial services sector hardest hit. A TechSecure Africa survey found more than 70% of Zimbabwean companies lack basic security measures.
Across Africa, businesses lose an estimated $4 billion annually to cybercrime. Globally, cybercrime is projected to exceed US$10 trillion — if it were a country, it would be the third largest economy on Earth.
A single incident can disrupt operations, compromise customer trust and result in significant financial losses. For SMEs who account for more than 60% of Zimbabwe’s GDP and over 70% of employment, that can mean closure.
TURNING AWARENESS INTO RESILIENCE
“Cybersecurity Month presents an important opportunity for businesses to move beyond awareness and take meaningful action,” Liquid says.
Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a business of Cassava Technologies founded by Strive Masiyiwa, is the continent’s largest independent fibre network provider, operating over 110,000km to 115,000km of fibre across 14+ countries. In Zimbabwe, it controls over 80% of network capacity and is the country’s largest fixed internet provider.
Its cybersecurity arm, Liquid C2, operates 24/7 Security Operations Centres (SOCs) offering Managed Detection and Response, threat intelligence and cyber resilience.
At the centre of Liquid’s defence is Secure360, its integrated security framework that enables organisations to move beyond reactive breach response towards proactive intelligence, protection and assurance.
And the technology partner powering that defence for thousands of Zimbabwean firms is Sophos.
Global cybersecurity firm Sophos now commands 70% of Zimbabwe’s cybersecurity market, with over 2,000 customers — 70% of them enterprises. In 2024, Liquid C2 was awarded Platinum Partner status by Sophos, the highest tier in the Sophos Partner Program, recognizing its deep expertise in delivering advanced, enterprise-grade solutions.
The partnership tackles Africa’s $4B cybersecurity gap with subscription-based, monthly-billed protection, making top-tier security accessible for banks, hospitals, ISPs and SMEs.
