Ten Zimbabwean startups have been selected to compete at the Startup World Cup Zimbabwe Regional Finale on Friday, 16 October, for an opportunity to represent the country at the global finale in San Francisco, United States.

The competition, organised by Tech Hub Harare and Brieftech Investments, will take place at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare from 5:30pm to 8:30pm, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, corporate executives and innovation ecosystem players.

The selected startups are Viridi Solutions, Ndarama Wallet, Nyamula Logistics, Bako Emergency Technologies, BantuBuzz, ZexaCore Innovations, BonekaSuo, Verdian Ag (Cropvista), Pachena and Corbeat.

Their innovations target challenges across several sectors, from reducing dependence on imported industrial lubricants and improving freight transportation to expanding investment access, supporting farmers and applying artificial intelligence in healthcare and education.

Among the finalists, ZexaCore Innovations is developing offline artificial intelligence learning solutions, while Corbeat is applying AI to electrocardiogram interpretation and cardiovascular health assessment.

Ndarama Wallet is targeting investment access through fractional ownership and digital asset technology, while Nyamula Logistics seeks to improve regional freight transportation through technology-enabled cargo and truck matching.

Other finalists include Viridi Solutions, which is developing locally produced sustainable industrial lubricants, and Verdian Ag (Cropvista), which uses agricultural intelligence and risk data to support farming and financing decisions.

Speaking ahead of the competition, Tech Hub Harare founder and principal organiser Nyasha Chasakara said the initiative seeks to connect Zimbabwean entrepreneurs with investors, mentors and markets beyond the country’s borders.

“Zimbabwe has no shortage of entrepreneurial talent or innovative ideas. What many emerging businesses need is greater access to markets, investment capital, experienced mentors and platforms that connect them to opportunities beyond our borders,” Chasakara said.

Startup World Cup is a global startup competition organised by Pegasus Tech Ventures, providing participating entrepreneurs with opportunities to present their businesses and compete for international exposure.

The Zimbabwean finale will feature live pitches before a panel of judges, with one startup selected to represent the country at the San Francisco Grand Finale.

The organisers said the initiative also aims to strengthen relationships between startups, investors, corporations and institutions supporting enterprise development.
