As Zimbabwe’s winter tightens its grip, NetOne has moved to shield children battling cancer from the cold. The telecoms operator has launched its 2026 Winter Drive in partnership with KidzCan Rainbow Village, delivering blankets, sheets and essential winter items to young patients and caregivers at the Harare facility.
KidzCan Rainbow Village provides accommodation, meals and critical support services to children receiving cancer treatment from across the country. NetOne’s intervention is designed to ease the burden during the coldest months.
Speaking at the partnership launch, NetOne Public Relations Manager Ernest Magadzire said the company chose immediate action over waiting.
“Winter cannot wait. While we are preparing for our fundraising golf tournament later this month, we felt it was important to act now and provide immediate support to children and families facing one of the most difficult battles of their lives. Through this partnership with KidzCan, we are delivering not only warmth, but also hope and reassurance that they are not alone,” Magadzire said.
He noted the donation reflects NetOne’s Health and Care strategic pillar and its view that corporate citizenship must translate into direct impact for vulnerable communities.
The Winter Drive is the opening act of NetOne’s wider campaign. It builds momentum toward the NetOne KidzCan Charity Golf Tournament set for 26 June in Bulawayo, where corporate partners, community leaders and golf enthusiasts will rally funds for children undergoing cancer treatment.
For NetOne, the initiative is more than seasonal charity. Magadzire said it demonstrates how the company uses its reach, resources and partnerships to improve lives, especially for Zimbabwe’s most vulnerable.
“As families at KidzCan Rainbow Village face the cold winter months, NetOne’s message is clear: no child should have to fight cancer alone,” he added.
