Harare motorists are set to experience a major shift in urban parking as City Parking introduces its first fully digital, self-service zones in the city centre. Beginning December 1, 2025, parts of Third Street and Park Street will transition to an unmanned system, marking a significant milestone in the company’s push toward smart, technology-driven urban management.

In a statement released today, City Parking confirmed that the new system will cover Third Street between Jason Moyo Avenue and Robert Mugabe Road, as well as Park Street between Jason Moyo Avenue and Samora Machel Avenue. In these zones, traditional parking marshals will no longer be present; instead, motorists will rely entirely on digital platforms to pay for their parking time.

The company emphasised that the shift is part of a broader digital transformation strategy aimed at modernising Harare’s parking infrastructure and aligning it with global smart-city trends. “As part of City Parking’s modernisation and digital transformation strategy, select parking areas will now operate on a self-service basis,” the notice stated.

To support the new system, motorists will have access to multiple digital payment channels. Users can scan QR codes displayed on street signage, dial *192#, interact with the company’s WhatsApp chatbot on 0719515601, or download and pay through the Park Assist mobile application. The integration of these tools is designed to make parking faster, more transparent and less dependent on manual processes.

City Parking added that the initiative leverages automation and Artificial Intelligence to improve efficiency and enhance the overall user experience. By removing the need for physical marshals in designated zones, the company aims to streamline operations while reducing congestion and delays often associated with manual ticketing.

As Harare continues its journey toward becoming a smarter, more digitally connected city, City Parking expressed its gratitude to motorists for embracing the transition. The company says the cooperation of the public is essential as it deploys new technologies to reshape how parking is managed across the capital.
