Anniversaries in corporate Zimbabwe are often marked by glittering galas. NetOne has chosen a different route.

By funding 100 mobile health kiosks — starting with 10 for 10 provinces — NetOne is turning its 30th birthday into a public health intervention. In a country where 60% of the population lives rurally, distance remains a diagnosis.

Tech lovers commend the tripartite model: Party leadership for mobilisation, NetOne for finance, ZimSmart Villages for digital-health execution. It aligns with Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, Vision 2030, NDS2 and SDGs 3, 10 and 17.

But tech enthusiasts also caution: Kiosks without drugs, staff and referral follow-through become white elephants. The Chinhoyi launch must be followed by transparent reporting — how many screened, referred, treated? How will data privacy be protected on the BatsiHealth platform?

If implemented with discipline, NetOne’s OneHealth legacy will be remembered longer than any tower.
