It was a defining moment for Zimbabwean women’s sport at Monomotapa Hotel as NetOne celebrated two athletes who placed Zimbabwe firmly on the world map at the 2026 Comrades Marathon.

NetOne PR Officer Rudo Vicente, reading the speech on behalf of NetOne, told guests that Zimbabwe did not simply participate in 2026, but competed with distinction.

She congratulated Nobukhosi Tshuma, who delivered an extraordinary performance to finish second in the women’s race in 5 hours, 53 minutes and 36 seconds, and Loveness Madziva, who achieved an outstanding sixth-place finish in 6 hours, 9 minutes and 54 seconds.

Vicente said two Zimbabwean women among the top ten women in one of the world’s most celebrated ultramarathons is an achievement worthy of national recognition.

The official awards circulating captured the essence of that achievement. It shows Nobukhosi Tshuma in the middle of her race, leading the pack, flanked by Nomagugu and Loveness with on the right, all wearing the Comrades race. This has become the face of Zimbabwe’s endurance campaign.

Vicente said to Nobukhosi, Loveness and every Zimbabwean who took part: you carried our national colours with pride. You carried Zimbabwe. You reminded us that our country possesses the talent, discipline, courage and resilience to compete on the global stage.

She said their success should be seen not just as individual triumph but as a national inspiration for young girls in schools, clubs and communities who dream of representing Zimbabwe. She added that the presence of three women all smiling through fatigue and pushing each other forward, tells a story of solidarity, sisterhood and shared national pride.

Vicente said NetOne is proud to walk and run this journey with the athletes, and that their performance gives concrete meaning to the theme 30 Years Strong – The Endurance to Go Further.
