Internet Society Zimbabwe Chapter Advocates For AI, VR, And AR Adoption ln Zimbabwe

Internet Society Zimbabwe Chapter president Taurai Nyarufika emphasized the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR) in driving Zimbabwe’s economic, growth during a plenary session at the Tech Convergence Forum hosted by TechnoMag last week.

Nyarufika highlighted the need for Zimbabwe to integrate AI into its agriculture, commerce, and industry, citing the technology’s potential to enhance customer engagement, decision-making, and overall competitiveness.

He also stressed the importance of adopting VR and AR, noting that other countries have already moved beyond these technologies and are now exploring Extended Reality (XR) and Mixed Reality (MR).

“I commended the government’s efforts to draft an AI policy and suggested incorporating VR, AR, and XR into the policy, along with IoT, blockchain, and computing policies, to create a comprehensive framework for Zimbabwe’s technological advancement”, he said.

He further urged the government, businesses, and technologists to work together to harness the potential of AI, VR, AR, and XR, transitioning from discussion to action and driving innovation and economic growth in Zimbabwe.
