The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has recently announced that it has successfully migrated to the Zimbabwean Gold (ZiG) as its primary currency for all transactions as customers can now purchase electricity tokens anytime and anywhere.
This move comes as part of the company’s efforts to comply with the government’s directive to use the local currency for all transactions within the country.
The decision to switch to the ZiG currency was made in order to streamline operations and ensure that customers are able to pay for their electricity bills in a more efficient manner. By using the local currency, ZETDC aims to reduce the reliance on foreign currencies and stabilize the pricing of electricity services for its customers.
In a statement released by the company, ZETDC updated its customers that with the successful migration of the ZiG currency, customers will now be able to transact in ZiG and USD from ZETDC banking halls and online platforms.
“We are pleased to advise that we have successfully migrated to the ZiG currency. Customers can now transact in ZiG and USD from ZETDC banking halls and online platforms”
ZETDC extend a heartfelt thank you to all its customers for their patience and understanding during the transition period.
