Zimbabwe to host 6th Transform Africa Summit

The upcoming 6th Transform Africa Summit will give investors an opportunity to see the real Zimbabwe and make informed decisions about investment opportunities.

Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe Director General Dr Gift Machengete told the media this week ahead of the summit scheduled for 26 to 28 April 2023 in Victoria Falls.

“Now for us in Zimbabwe, we are the ones who have got the Agritec flagship but we also have other 36 countries in this Smart Africa grouping who also have their own flagships for which Zimbabwe will benefit from.

“For example, we don’t have to concentrate on Artificial Intelligence because that is being done by South Africa so, we will then learn from South Africa.

“We don’t have to do a lot in terms of smart cities because that is already being done by Rwanda so, you already have somewhere to start from,” Dr Machengete said.

“So, it’s like Africa has divided itself amongst those important areas in ICTS which will help Africa develop. Having said that, it’s also important that when people descend on Zimbabwe, it is going to give an opportunity for Zimbabwe to showcase what we have.

“And what we have I’m talking about opportunities in terms of trade, what we can offer to the outside world. Investors will be coming and they will have an opportunity to see real Zimbabwe and not the Zimbabwe that they see in terms of media out there which might not give a clear image of this country.

“So, they will be able to see for themselves and to make judgement on their own with what they would have seen. So, that is the benefit for this country.”

The 6th Transform Africa Summit (TAS) will for the first time be held outside of Kigali.

The Transform Africa Summit is the leading Africa tech and digital event organised by Smart Africa which gathers over 3000 delegates from more than 100 countries to engage on the digital transformation of the continent across multiple sectors.

Heads of States, who constitute Smart Africa’s Board, Ministers of ICT, International Industry leaders and key players in the ICT will attend the three-day event aimed at making core decisions for Africa’s socio-economic development through ICT.
