”We Are Ready for Starlink,” TelOne

The country’s fixed and diversified telecommunications service provider, TelOne says they are ready for Elon Musks, Starlink.

The state owned telephony operators said on the indications of the coming in of Starlink which has since applied and is still undergoing procedures to be legalized to operate in Zimbabwe, they are ready to panel beat their services to be competitive.

Speaking on the sidelines of the company’s media tour of the data centers in Harare and Bulawayo the company’s CEO Eng Lawrence Nkala noted that they are ready to take on the connectivity space with its dynamic challenges.

“There has been a number of emerging opportunities which include the Low Earthe Orbit Satelites (Starlink, Oneweb, Amazon,Roscosmos ) we are looking into it, Starlink is the first to show interest in operating in the country and they could be disruptive but we will take it as innovation and work on it,” he said.
“We are sure that it is not going to be easy but we are ready for the coming in of Starlink and we will always look for innovations to keep us as the product of choice,”

TelOne is the second biggest internet Access Provider, running their last mile fibre connectivity via South Africa, Mazambique and Botswana as they connect many Zimbabweans via the sea link

As part of their other innovative business packages the CEO also revealed they have a device manufacturing plant which is currently producing computers in Harare at their Masasa factory
“We are seeing the desired need to have these ICT gadgets for home, schools and businesses and we have come to fill the gap with locally produced products.
The Infinity brand  computers are already being used in schools and other government offices.
