Zimbabwe decline in fixed telephone lines subscription by 5.1% to 252 067



Zimbabwe’s watchdog responsible for issuing licenses in the postal and telecommunications sector, POTRAZ has recorded a decline in fixed telephone line subscriptions by 5.1 percent to reach 252, 067 as at December 31 2020 from 265, 734 recorded as at December 31, 2019.

The fixed density also declined by 0.1 percent to reach 1.7 percent from 1.8 percent recorded in December 2019

Furthermore, the total number of active mobile subscriptions declined marginally by 0.03 percent to record 13, 191, 708 as at December 2020 from 13, 195, 902 recorded in December 2019.

On the other hand, the mobile penetration rate also declined to 90.5 percent from 90.6 recorded in 2019.

However, there was a marginal growth in active internet and data subscription.
