The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) which had deferred announcing the fuel prices for the month of July, saying it was watching developments on the international market and would announce the new prices in due course, has now reviewed upwards,the prices of diesel and petrol effective 5 August 2021.
According to a statement released by the energy regulator,the new prices will see the maximum pump price of diesel at ZWL$114.29 and US$1.33 per litre and petrol at ZWL$117.07 or US$1.37 per litre
Operators, however, sell at prices below the cap depending on their trading advantages,” reads part of the statement from ZERA.
For the past two months, that is, from 5 June to 4 August 2021, the maximum price of diesel was ZWL$110.54 or US$1.30 per litre while petrol was pegged at ZWL$112.55 or US$1.33 per litre.
ZERA is supposed to review and announce new prices on the fifth day of every month in line with Statutory Instrument 270 of 2019, Petroleum (Petroleum Products Pricing Regulations, the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA).
