Zambia Parliament Bans Internet Service Providers From Expiring User Data Bundles

Zambian Parliament has unanimously adopted a motion that seeks to prevent internet providers from prescribing the expiry dates on internet bundles which are bought by clients.

Nalikwanda Member of Parliament Geoffrey Lungwangwa questioned why data in Zambia isn’t transferable and that service providers exploit their customers by benefiting more through the expired data.

The Parliament has agreed that the issue of data affects citizens and it ought to be dealt with as the internet has become an integral part of the everyday life and plays a vital part in the fourth industrial revolution.
