Last night the managing director of Liquid Telecoms, Mr Wellington Makamure announced that they are now laying atleast 4km of fibre every day around Zimbabwe.
While giving a keynote address during the recently held e-Tech Expo cocktail party, The managing director of Africa`s largest fibre laying optic company disclosed that they have accelerated their speed on fibre installation.
Mr Makamure said that they have so far installed more than 17 000km of fibre optic and have moved to a new average from last year`s 2km to a 4km of fibre per day.
He also added that “ currently Liquid telecoms employs 50 local contractors which also employing more than 5 000 employees and this is our role and our part in facilitating employment.”
He also added and emplored all the stakeholders to continue pressing on doing their part to develop Zimbabwean ICT as it is also a key industry in the development of the country and making Zimasset thrive.
This is the move they have spearheaded some few years back and also breaking new ground on their Fibre To Home (FTH) project initiative a move that has revolutionised technology in Zimbabwe.
Liquid Telecom with Potraz were the sponsors of the night`s cocktail party as they brought business executives and exhibitors of the e-Tech Africa Expo Exhibition to a networking enabled platform.
Liquid telecom had earlier on during the day handed over their token of appreciation to the ICTPS Hon Minister Webster Shamu at the close of business of day 2 of the expo.
