Thousands stranded as Zesa prepaid vending system fails


HARARE- Thousands of Zesa customers were today left stranded following a system failure at State-owned power firm Zesa prepaid vending Thousands stranded as ZESA prepaid vending system crashes.

The prepaid vending system allows individual consumers to purchase electricity tokens using mobile money and online payment systems.
Consumers started experiencing challenges during the weekend as they failed to purchase electricity.

In a statement on Monday, Zesa spokesperson Fullard Gwasisa said costumers can purchse their electricity from Zesa banking halls.

“Zetdc would like to advise its valued customers countrywide that it is experiencing system challenges with its prepaid vending system. We thank you for bearing with us during this inconveniencing but temporary situation & we regret the inconvenience being caused,”

“In the meantime, customers can revert to our banking halls countrywide to purchase electricity tokens whilst the situation is being addressed. Customers will be advised on the progress of full service restoration,” the company said in a statement.

Mobile money payment is the backbone of the country’s payment systems in the face of pressing cash shortages.
