TelOne to Host SADC Telecommunications Meeting

Zimbabwe’s converged telecommunications operator TelOne is set to host the SADC Telecommunications Operators’ Bilateral Meeting to be held at the Kingdom Hotel in Victoria Falls from February 22 to February 24.

At least 14 SADC member countries will converge at the resort town for the meeting with Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services Supa Mandiwanzira being the guest of honour.

The meeting co-organised by the Southern Africa Telecommunications Association (SATA) focuses on various issues meant to revamp the sector in the region.

” It will be officially opened by Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Honourable SupaMandiwanzira on Wednesday, 22 February 2017 at the Kingdom Hotel, Victoria Falls at 1100 hours,” said TelOne.

The operator added that this is a forum where SATA members will discuss ways to fortify the SADC’s science and technology base to become a global leader in ICT.

“….Strengthen SADC scientific and technology base and ensure its global leadership in ICT,” said TelOne.

The meeting which brings together influential senior experts in the ICT industry from various organisations from within and outside the SADC region also focuses on wholesale and retail telecommunications community with the region.

This meeting will among other issues tackle cyber security that has become a major concern to the country and the region and the globe.

“The meeting addresses all areas of the ICTs technical, operational, commercial, cyber security and revenue assurance to fraud management issues,” said TelOne.

Another takeout from this meeting will be the provision of opportunities for bilateral interactions to resolving issues of mutial interest amongst the registered attendees.
